Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet area located in the West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" place. Many people who don't know about the place mistakenly think that they are on the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact it is the West Island includes everything westward from that city Lachine. Amanda Brugel is said to be born on the West Island. However, it's not the case. Brugel was raised in Courtice near Oshawa, Ontario. Her early ambition was to be a dancer but a growth spurt meant that she literally outgrew her dance partners. In an article published in the Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. After I surpassed my male counterparts at that point, I gave up. There are many dancers who make the move to acting. For Brugel, it was her drama teacher who encouraged her in that direction. Teacher who recommended she try getting a part in the school's annual production. Following a trial, she ended up as the lead actress in Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000, she received her Master of Fine Arts at York University. Her career spans 20 years and she has been in over 60 productions that have screened on large screens and on smaller ones. Her most recognizable role was as Rita (pictured below) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian in the season 1 actors of the series and seen only occasionally, was the sole Canadian.
